Thank you for visiting my site. I would love it if you would sign my guestbook here!

Just in case the e-mail address I have for you is wrong and you didn't get the message I sent, thought I'd post one here! Penner and I are hoping to get a group of OU alums together because this is -- unbelieveably of course -- the 40th anniversary of our all meeting at OU. (For any one else reading this we were all child prodigies and started college at age 6!) So anyway we're looking at the weekend of Nov 8-9 which also happens to be Parents Weekend and the football game is with Bowling Green. Penner has already made her reservations at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg; all the hotels/motels (all 5 of them!) in Athens are booked already. Lynn is coming too and Penner has e-mailed Kathy Hogue, Kathy Heck and Kathy Seible and her husband Marv. WE WANT YOU THERE!!! Bring Rex!!! Let us hear from you, OK? Love, Beth

my mother has read 'the convent of the brides of virtue' trilogy at least 10 times each, ever since they came out, and then about a week ago i saw her reading the 'wifes test' and finally asked her what they were about, so we talked for more then hour about this trilogy and she gave me the first book and said to read it; and that i'll love it. so i started to read it at 8 at night and finished it at 11:30 that night, and now i have started to read the second and third, and i'm loving them! so....will you please write another one!!!! - mother and daughter

One of my favorite wisdom quotes I found on a sign in a flea market. It read "If at first you don't succeed..do it like you mother told you to." I had no children at the time and now that I do it just gets more and more amusing. Love your work.

Betina, you are absolutely my favorite author of historical fiction! Your books are all on my Keeper Shelf, and I make a point of stopping by to get an autographed book from you at each National conference. I read that you recently sold two books to Brenda Chin for the Harlequin Blaze line, and (if this is true) wanted to welcome you as a fellow Blaze author -- I am so thrilled! And judging from the length of your backlist, I will be a very busy reader. :D (and here's a secret...I never thought I'd enjoy historical romance!) I really enjoy your writing style. I'm reminded of a drama teacher I had in high school who was always telling us, "There are no small parts only small actors." Even your most minor characters have life breathed into them.

Dear Betina; Your books are hard to find! Apparently they fly off the store shelves before I get to them. But I found your 1992 "My Warrior's Heart" at a library's used book sale. Wow! That is excellent work! I love how the character have to work through their moral dilemmas and how they get blindsided by their pre-conceived notions. And a plot! You do such great work with plots! Some of the romance novels I've read lately seem to be based on a belief that horniness and animal attraction IS a plot! I enjoyed the fact that the intimate moments in your books are actually moments that I read through because they are so natural. Many times I will skip over page upon page of the soft-core porn that passes for love-making in romance novels just so I can get back to some semblance of a plot. And I could relate to your "warrior-maid" because I have been in the military lo these many years and have seen what a gal has to be in order to be considered an warrior. So again, you hit it right on the mark. I shouldn't have been surprised when someone in your guestbook commented that you like theology (me too) because it shows in your writing - you keep a wonderful balance between the different views of faith presented and allow the characters to be themselves no matter what they believe. You have great insights on human nature which is what makes your books so remarkable. Anyway, all this is just to say that your books are delight to read and I will always look forward to reading whatever you produce. May God continue to bless your endeavors. Dea

Hi, I'm the fiction cataloger at the Rochester Public Library. Somewhere along the line I must have read somewhere that you live or have lived in Minnesota. We use a subject heading on your items that says: Minnesota literature (Fiction) This means that the author currently lives or at one time lived in Minnesota. Looking at your bio, I don't see any mention of you living in Minnesota. Have you ever lived here? If not, I'd better take that subject heading out of your items. Thanks for you help!

My favorite Book of all time is The Last Bachelor! When Antonia makes Remington lace up in a corset before beginning his training is my favorite part. Every man thinks womans work is nothing, yet they can't even change a diaper on a baby. I will be looking for your other books and I hope I enjoy them as much.

I just read Luck Be A Lady, it is the first book written by you that I have read. I have never laughed so much, or enjoyed reading so much. I went to lunch with four of my lady friends, started telling them about this book and laughed so much that I couldn't eat my lunch. I was only on page 90 at the time; They wanted to know the Author, I told them I didn't know, they wanted to know the name of the book, I told them I didn't know but when I got home I would email them to let them know who and what. I just happen to pick up this book from my daughters collection, now I am going to look for all of your books!

Hi, Betina! I don't usually do things like this, but I just had to let you know how much I loved The Book of the Seven Delights! It was everything I love in a book--- adventure, humor, enjoyable characters, and of course a great romance!:) It had the feel of an Indiana Jones movie, but made all the better by the 'love' stuff. ;) All of that and a golden breastplate? What more could a reader ask for? Thanks for such a great read!

Really enjoyed The Book of The Seven Delights! It would make a great movie...that's how I saw it as I read.I only remember 6 delights...seeing, touching, dancing, tasting, control and surrender unless my delight at reading your book was number seven. Which one did I miss?

I Finally found it! Although I had no idea who the author was, I have been looking for your book "The Princess and the Barbarian" for two long years. It is very rare for me to read a book more than once (especially a romance) but I have to admit to reading this one not only once but three times. Unfortunately, I was so enamoured with it that I lent it to a friend and moved across the country before I could pry it out of her hands! It has stuck with me for these last two years and I have been keeping my eyes open for it everywhere. (which is alot of places, since my husband and I have a penchant for collecting books by the boxfull... I think that we are going to have to open a used bookstore one of these days just to find the room to move in our house.) Well, back to the point, I enjoyed your book and am off to find a place to buy it (now that I know your name) so that I may end this two year search. By any chance, are those seven delights mentioned in your new book the same as the delights in "The Princess and The Barbarian"? It has been awhile since I've read it (obviously) but it was a thought. Thank you for your wonderful books.

Hi Betina: Don't know if you remember me, but I interviewed you for a story I wrote for Minnesota Monthly magazine many moons ago. I wanted to let you know that so many of the stories you told me about how you got started have really stuck with me. Thank you! I was so glad to read on your site that you're doing well and in love! Fantastic! I've never forgotten the story about how your husband supported your writing career so whole-heartedly. I finally found one of my own. On days when I ask my husband if I should go get a full-time job instead of writing at home in my office, he always responds: "You already have a full-time job." So. Anyway, I wanted to send you a love note to say thanks. You're an inspiration. Best wishes, Jacque Fletcher

Betina, I love your books. My favorites are The Husband Test and Just Say Yes. I was not surprised to learn you are an amatuer theologian and to see some prominant thinkers among your favorite authors becuase your work shows excellent insight into philosophy and theology. I used to teach theology at the university level, and it is unusual for me to relish romance fiction as much as I relish your writings. Keep writing! Thank you!

Betina, Your Book of the Seven Delights was profoundly delightful reading in its own right. Thank you. It was so satisfying to vicariously triumph with Abigail over the prejudice and sexism and "glass ceiling" phenomenon which, while less glaring, still exists today. No woman hasn't felt it. But, Betina, Betina, Betina, what a shock the last pages were! How could you pull out the rug from under your own delightful and courageous heroine and your readers by snatching Abigail's and our ENTIRE victory back in the add last chapter. In that chapter we learn that the treasure she brought back after such challenges to show those old boys that she could do it, that she was worthy, turned out to be completely worthless to the museum. And the old boy with the walrus moustache who stomped out in disgust turned out to be right after all! I couldn't believe that this vicarious victory, that we readers experienced, cheering, and were encouraged by vis a vis our own challenges was then absolutly undone by the woman who authored it!! You may have had technical reasons for making that move... setting the stage for a modern day sequal, but even then, certain of the treasures might have turned out to be not originals, but already extant.... but every single one of them? With those hideous old boys (new models of which we have all experienced) ultimately were right about the worthlessness of her efforts after all? Betina, we read your delightful books because they give us the courage to believe thqt good things can happen. Please don't raise our spirits and our hopes and our courage by writing about meaningful and hard won victories only to shoot them all down -- and us too! -- in their entirety on the last pages. Written in disbelief, but in friendship, and wishing you well. Bee MacGuire

I just wrote the following book review for "Hidden Fires" on the Barnes and Noble site: I still have the copy of this book -- now torn-up, dog-eared and coverless -- that I bought for myself after a miserable day in the seventh grade in 1987. What a way to start my love affair with romance novels! Ms. Krahn's book is relentlessly steamy, with two fiery-tempered people unable to cling to their righteous sense of self when they're near each other. The passion is undeniable, although Ms. Krahn creates plausible reasons for them to fight it throughout most of the story, keeping the sexual tension high. The characters physicallity shines through and you understand their beauty together. Most importantly, Ms. Krahn keeps you in the fantasy by making her characters' goals, motivations and conflicts real and important until the end. You understand why their fires are hidden and what Eden and Ramsey offer each other that fans the flames. I posted it here because it says it all! Thank you for your words.

I found your book, The Marriage Test, while searching for info about the Middle Ages and the culinary skills, and meals of this period to use within my classroom; where one of the units I teach is about The Middle Ages. Not only did I find the information I sought - about their spices and meals - but other resources as well that you listed in your author's notes. And just as importantly, I found a really fun book to read. Thank you, and I'm off to the library for another of your novels. S. Levinson

Hey! I'm hooked! Found your books when I was looking for something to enhance a long (over 15 years) awaited romantic vacation with my hubby. I must have read about 6 by now (yep, hubby encouraged me to keep reading after the vacation!) Any chance you might someday do a more modern historical time? My hubby and I had a whirlwind romance (much like your books, lol) and married after only 6 months because he was in the Navy and being moved to a new duty...I can only imagine there are some interesting stories like that, perhaps from the war years...much longing and passion I suspect. Best wishes! Sandy

Hi, Betina -- LOVE your work! What a great escape! But I have a question... Just finished reading the Book of the Seven Delights and only found six listed. Seeing, Touching, Dancing, and Tasting are listed (in detail), and at the end Control and Surrender are mentioned. What's the 7th? I went back, but still couldn't find it! Thanks!

Just finished "The Marriage Test" and wondered if you have ever watched "foodtv.com". I'm not a great tv addict but I love to watch "foodtv.com" The only complaint I have is that they put MUSHROOMS in practically everything and I do not care for them--must be from my childhood as my parents put them into many of our meals--think it's the smaell when they're cooking. Your book is going on my "keeper" shelves.
